Before thermal transfer and laser printers made the scene, Hot Stamping was the only way to produce weatherproof tags at your place of business.  The Hot Stamp printing process uses an engraved metal plate, heat, carbon pigmented film, and a special impact printer to inbed a permanent carbon image into the tag.
